Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the notion of organisations electronically transmitting information between business partners that was previously exchanged manually on paper using an automated electronic format. This is a machine-to-machine and/or computer-to-computer exchange of business documents and/or information, such as sending and receiving purchase orders and invoices, that is aided by software technology and EDI standards to help organisations and partners streamline logistics and business processes.
